Keith is a 4th Year Physiology student, and was SU Welfare Officer from 2008-2009. He is affectionately known as 'Condom Guy' to most people from the insane amount of condoms distrubuted during his year. His drink of choice is a can of Druids or a Beamish, and his favourite computer game is Sonic the Hedgehog :)
Keith headed up the 'No to Fees' protest in Cork in 2009 with over 5,000 students, the biggest since the 70's. He is a well-known campaigner, regular contributor and published commentator on student rights & issues, employment rights etc.
Keith has often featured for student issues on RedFM, 96FM, Today FM, and in the Evening Echo, Sunday Business Post, Examiner and Irish Independent and more.
Keith has been trained as a team leader repeatedly for 5 years in various places, and manages staff and bars at festivals like Glastonbury in his summer days.
Experience
A President of a organization like UCC Students' Union needs to be someone who can work with and manage a team, is unafraid of shaking up the status quo if something is not working, and is able to deal with the huge numbers of committees and policy documents the University and Government throw at them.
Just as importantly, a President needs to know what his/her students' need - at the end of the day they are the Chief Representative locally and nationally.
If you read the bullet points below you will see that Keith has a wide range of experience, from leading teams to leading protests, from partying in RAG Week to organizing it 3 years running, and from reading policy to forming policy to better UCC students' lives locally and nationally.
